The Train Journey
So, talk about rushing about, got to the train station in Peterborough 8 minutes too late due to traffic, should have left a little earlier really to allow for it.
Got on the train to Birmingham New Street at 12.55 and sat listening to my MP3s on my phone. I hate trains with a passion, usually full of short tempered hot and bothered people, niiiiiiiiice. Kids being moaned at by their Mum for puttin their feet on the chairs, told to sit still and read (ye, ok, like a kid will sit still on a train, its probably freakin out bein on the damn thing)
Anyway, after about 2 hours of travelling, I arrived at the station, which to me, looked more like an airport inside, must be the biggest most awkwardest train station in the UK. Avoid this one at all costs, too busy, the staff are ignorant and the price of foods just an insult.
After figuring out where the next train was,I headed down to the platform and boarded the train for the Airport & NEC, again greeted by an ignorant ratty member of staff who barged about 5 people out the way whilst screamin “this is ridiculous, not enough seats, blah blah blah”……I hope she lost her job for that….. I was beginning to think I had missed somethin today, had the station staff all had a huge decrease in wages or did I just meet the wrong people on a bad day?
The Show
After a ten mile walk through the mazes of the NEC, it was straight to the press office, see Will, get passes, and I’m in. Jobs a good un.
Luckily just as i’d got them, Olly called me from Bedford’s phone, and arranged to meet me. By this time I just wanted to chill for five minutes and met him outside along with Clare, Sarah, Cindy, Carl & Alan, they had blagged a cracking spot outside the main hall and had the Cabs & Audi A3 on show. Chilled with them for a bit, had a cig (which I should not have done cos i’m quittin but felt the need, was only the one)
Photo blast
Ok, the time was 3pm, the show was due to close at 6pm, three hours to cain it round and get as many photos as physically possible, should be easy.
Me & Olly sweeped the whole show within 2 hours, I managed to get over 180 quality photos, which will be up soon on Maxxd.com, along with Olly’s, think he got about the same knowing him. The show was quite good, not as big, but then again it was Friday, good day for us real because we had the chance to get better photos without the crowds, and walked round without bumpin into someone every five seconds.
Stopped to chat to Brooke & Sarah Crafer for a bit, they were working for Kicker & Extreme Virtual Cruise, Brooke holding a nice hangover and Sarah not being well and having a bad leg, the life of modellin eh? tut tut
We checked out most stands, collecting business cards and literature on our way and managed to blag free burgers, a couple of drinks and a windscreen sun protector, but NO T Shirts. Olly left about 5.30pm and I stayed until the very end getting a few more photos as the arena was pretty much empty.
All in all a good day, was supposed to leave at 6ish after being asked to leave several times as the show had finished, “I’m taking photos though, look PRESS”
I managed to get myself a bit more time and left at 6.15 and headed straight back to the train station.
The journey home
Two trains, two hours, more music, no annoying people, nice journey, got back into Peterborough, got a lift back to Wisbech, got all my things sorted, cracked open a John Smiths, and got to work offloading photos from my very reliable and life saving W810i.
I have just installed a new gallery to my website, after a few more cans and will sort out the Max Live pictures first thing in the morning .
Bed time for me, good night
