I have been an internet user for years now and can remember the first day I was introduced to it. Things have changed so much since then, it was a good ten years ago and I can remember searching for things and never really getting very far. It was all a bit too much at the time and now I have two internet marketing businesses with one of my best mates…
Years ago someone said to me that you could find whatever you wanted within a few clicks, kinda true if you wanted to go through the hundreds of search results and websites that bare no relevance.
Anyway, we are now in 2008 and the internet has become a huge role in many peoples lives and businesses, I probably spend eight hours a day if not more on the internet, may not always be browsing but I use it for email access and research etc.
More recently we have been looking into how other people, mainly those who do not the internet that well, actually use it. The main focus was on the search engines, google mainly as this is something we work strongly on doing things such as search engine optimisation.
For example, if I was looking for restaurants in nottingham, I would literally type in restaurants in nottingham, some people would type, eating out in nottingham or nottingham restaurants. Some people may even go as far as typing things like, where can I find a restaurant in nottingham?
All of these searches would normally bring up different results, some of which will not direct you to the right kind of website, there are alot of random sites out there that have these words on them but do not actually help you find local restaurants.
The internet can be annoying at times, or should I say the search engines can be, you could search for alloy wheels for example today, then tomorrow search for it again and the same company may not be in the same place on google. The internet is huge and getting into the right place is a mammoth task which is why we started doing what we do and building sites that give businesses an impact and help them grow.
Anyway, back to my main point, how do people use the internet ?
In many different ways, alot of people are still confused about the internet and get the feeling they have just walked into a massive shopping centre and dont know where to start……..
My quest to find out more about this continues……..
