The Operation & starting back to Work
March 11th, 2008 by dave
So, the operation day soon came round and there was me, laid up in a hospital bed waiting for the operation that I had been waiting for. I was rather nervous as I hate hospitals and more importantly, I hate laying in bed and not being able to do anything.
So, after waiting an hour or so I was taken into the operating theatre, put to sleep and cut open. The next time I woke up I was stiff and was told to keep pressing this button when I felt pain.
No need to go into anymore details but so far the operation has been a successful one and I am walking about again pain free, I am sore and a bit stiff but that will get better with physio. I have got to take it easy for six weeks, no heavy lifting and no sitting up for long periods of time, just laying, standing, laying and standing, and can walk until I reach my limits.
I came out of hospital on the Friday, was in bed all weekend yet hardly slept due to being restless, my body felt like it was shutting down but yet I could not sleep. The last six months has been a total nightmare, I do not know how I got through it without going insane, no driving, no going out, pain all the time despite being on morphine and tramadol, not to mention not being in the right frame of mind for work, that was the biggest killer. I have in my eyes fell behind further than I imagined. I really do feel like I have only just got back into the swing of things from the christmas break. Although January was the beginning, I did not get off to a good start in the slightest.
Now is the time to work at my full capacity, everything seems to be going really well at the moment, there are so many fantastic opportunities out there and there all at the end of the phone. We are starting to get enquiries, more people seem to be interested in the things we are doing this year, the spirits are rather high right now.
Since starting back on Monday I feel more positive than ever and have got well and truly stuck in, another few weeks I should be fully recovered and firing on all cylinders.
I would like to thank the following people for their support over the past few months as its been a complete bastard…..
Alex, Olly, Helen, Mum & Dad…. thanks, you’ve all been stars !!!
Here’s to a good future.
