The car is in quite good condition and I have already stripped the majority of parts.

To cut a long story short, the cars dead!!!!

Rusted Struts, I took the interior out and found two holes on each side that had been welded up (badly) – the structure of the car is just not strong enough and there is more rust underneath the sills which is way beyond repair.

The engine also started having a few issues and the parts I need cannot be found so unfortunately the cars being broken or scrapped.

On to the next……

After years of owning Volkswagens I decided to have a bit of a change and find something a bit different.

So, after weeks of searching the internet and the adMag I stumbled across a Toyota Celica GT Gen 4 Model from 1989. At first I did not like the shape and could not see myself driving it. However, another look around the car and a test drive later I handed over a few bits of paper, sorted all the documents out and drove her away.

Within the first week I had decided that I was going to enter the car into the Toyota Sprint Series which starts in April 2009. My mate Ollie is also entering and will be running his 1996 Toyota Corolla Saloon.

So far I have given the car a good going over, the bodywork has been cleaned and treated with Smart Polish and Smart Wax.

The paint has oxided quite badly but thanks to a full day of cleaning and treating its come up a treat and shines a nice vibrant red again.

The next stage is to sort the chassis out, get the ride stiffened up, Coilovers, Anti Roll Bars and some new Alloy Wheels and better tyres. Following that I then need to look into what are the best car performance parts for this model, general breather mods and exhaust system for starters.

The car handles quite well at the moment although changing all the above will make a massive difference. I intend to get her on the track sometime before the TSS starts so that I have had some good practice. I’m really looking forward to getting into motorsport, its something I have always wanted to do but the money involved is crazy, certainly with some of the bigger events, however the TSS is not as expensive and is one of the cheapest routes into the sport.

We will be reporting on all events on Maxxd-Motorsport.com and this will become the site for our Motorsport Team

Roll on 2009 !
